A mooseskin boat hasn't run the mighty Nahanni in Canada's Northwest Territories for over 100 years. Until now. In this episode, we hear the story of the Dene reclaiming their roots on this remarkable journey, as told in the recent documentary River of Forgiveness. Award-winning filmmaker Geoff Bowie takes us behind the scenes in the making of the film.

From the Prologue…

They have come here to build a boat, out of spruce, sinew and moose hide, the way their ancestors did, hundreds of years ago. The plan is to take the boat on a roughly 500-kilometre trip, down the Nahanni and into Fort Simpson where the Liard river meets the mighty Mackenzie.
